Archiving & Documents

CaRD Workspace for CMIS

The connector stores, the Workspace shows: a web front end on the same archive — for everyone without SAP on their desk.

A content repository is an interface. It accepts documents and hands them back, but it has no screen where somebody could type a document number. The CaRD Workspace adds exactly that: a web front end on the same archive the CaRD Connector serves — navigation, search, detail view, download and upload.

Who works with it

The mail room, the workshop, reception, auditors, the colleague who needs one delivery note per quarter. They open a browser, not SAP. Which part of the archive they see is governed by their permissions and the repository selection.

Permissions in five steps

Read, create, update, delete and administer are assigned individually and can be combined. The most useful split in practice is create versus update: in an archive things may be added, but nothing should disappear or change afterwards. Assignment happens in your directory through Entra ID; where none exists, the Workspace brings a local user store.

Full text is optional

Searching starts with metadata — document number, partner, date and your own fields, freely configurable per installation. If you also want to search inside document content, switch on the full-text index. It needs a PostgreSQL database and extracts text in stages, so PDF files that already carry a text layer never reach the expensive methods. Without full text the application runs entirely without a database.

Bulk download and deletion protection

A complete result list can be pulled as an archive file — with a table of contents and logged access, which saves time during audits and information requests. Conversely the interface shows when a document is managed by SAP, carries a hold or is under a retention period; the delete function then does not appear at all.

The Workspace is new in the catalogue. We accompany the first roll-outs personally and set it up together with you.

Rather see it once than read it three times?

We will show you the tool in an online demo based on your own scenario — or on site at your premises.
