Archiving & Documents

CaRD Connector — AWS S3 edition

Amazon S3 — or any S3-compatible storage — as an archive for S/4, including lifecycle rules and object lock for retention periods.

This edition stores your S/4 documents in Amazon S3 — or in any S3-compatible object storage, whether in your own data centre or at another provider. To S/4HANA the storage is an ordinary content repository addressed through CMIS 1.1 (browser binding); the SAP DMS certification (TCK) has been passed. For classic document storage the same connector is available for SAP ArchiveLink.

Retention you can prove

S3 Object Lock enforces retention periods technically — a document cannot be deleted or overwritten before the period expires, not accidentally and not by an administrator. Combined with versioning this creates storage that stands up to audit-proof requirements.

Cost across the lifecycle

Lifecycle rules automatically move objects from standard through infrequent access into the Glacier classes. Because archive holdings are typically written once and rarely read, the effect on running cost is significant — and you steer it entirely with AWS on-board means.

Metadata and optional AI

CMIS properties are written along as object metadata so the archive stays analysable outside S/4 as well. On request we add an AI classification that categorises documents and writes the results back into the metadata — for a search that understands what someone is looking for.

Rather see it once than read it three times?

We will show you the tool in an online demo based on your own scenario — or on site at your premises.
